We’ll Get Through This Together
These are trying times, for each of us as individuals, for our families and communities, and for all of us as a company.
In this turbulence, there will be times that feel like the end of the world is coming. It’s important to remember that humanity has proven time and time again that it is incredibly resilient, and finds surprising ways to recover and get back to “normal.” We will overcome this, and we will sometime in the future have “boring” days again of going with friends to a bar or to watch a basketball game. I don’t know when or how things will work out, and I’m pretty sure things will get worse before they get better. But I am very confident that in the not-too-distant future, we will be traveling to beautiful Italy, and sitting in a restaurant full of Italians as well as tourists from China, the U.S, etc., all enjoying a wonderful pasta together.
As part of this global pandemic, Outbrain has a responsibility to the open web news organizations, to our partners, and to news consumers around the world. We are continuing to work hard to fulfill all commitments and promises while delivering the high-quality content and services that Outbrain is known for.
Here are the steps we have taken over the past week:
- We have tightened our ad guidelines and brand safety measures around COVID-19.
- We are strengthening our guidelines around the types of content allowed on our network, and we are removing any types we are able to identify as misleading or inaccurate information.
- We are carefully monitoring online traffic to ensure we have the capacity to handle global spikes of traffic in the best possible way.
- Our Sales, Account Management, and Support teams remain 100% available (from home…) to help our partners.
As we continue to monitor the situation and follow the latest updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and the relevant health organizations in all other countries we operate in, we will also continue to update our policies accordingly. We remain dedicated to you and your success during this trying time of rapid changes.
Outbrain is as committed as ever to enabling sustainable news and journalism. And at times like this, it’s more important than ever that we have strong news organizations that can keep us all informed on the evolving situation. That said, it’s also important these days to balance our media diet with some more calming ‘nutrition’. I wish us all some days of boring news in the very near future.
