After all, can’t have you wasting calories consuming inferior barbeque!

Happy Hour on SOCO

With the best shopping, restaurants, and live music venues in town, your afternoon will easily turn to night on South Congress. Start with a perfect michelada at the Hotel San Jose and take a quick stroll across the street to Continental Club to see some real country music.

Honky Tonk-Heaven

Austin truly is the epicenter of Honky Tonk. For a casual 2-steppin’ class and a few cold, long neck beers, be sure to check out the Little Longhorn Saloon, Broken Spoke, The White Horse, or Donn’s Depot.

World-Class Barbeque

Fancy barbecue? That’s right! Lamberts serves up slow-smoked Texas bbq with local beers, classic cocktails, and new world wines. Not feeling BBQ? Lamberts also has the best ribeye and seafood specials in town.

Shop ‘Til You Drop

BBQ and live music aside, Austin is also a shopper’s dream. For authentic Western wear, head to Allen’s Boots on South Congress. Guys should plan to spend some time at Stag and By George, also on South Congress. The gals can enjoy an easy walk down East 11th for super chic summit-wear at Miranda Bennet and perfect housewares at Take Heart.

Tex-Mex, Please

So much Tex-Mex, and I love it all. Stop by Curra’s Grill and try all five homemade salsas, the shrimp flautas, and an avocado margarita. And don’t forget about Veracruz All Natural — Austin’s best taco (it’s life-changing!).

Pool Pitstop

Take time to check out one of Austin’s amazing spring-fed swimming pools located right in the center of town. Deep Eddy Pool on Lake Austin Blvd. is favorited by the locals! Grab your suit, take a plunge, and follow it all up with a Mai Thai cocktail and the best burger in town next door at Pool Burger. The perfect way to add vacation vibes to your afternoon.
