Vote Outbrain Onto the Stage at SXSW 2014

A mere five months removed from SXSW ’13, we’re already gearing up for SXSW 2014!

We’re throwing our hats into the ring with three pretty awesome panels, and we need your votes to help us climb the stage next year.

First up, “Is the Personalized Internet Making Us Dumb?” will see Upworthy co-founder and filter bubble expert Eli Pariser square off against Outbrain CEO Yaron Galai on whether personalization — which touches everything from Search, to your Amazon shopping cart and the news and entertainment stories you binge on in the morning — is actually making sense of the over-saturated internet, or is it merely limiting our viewpoints and conceptions of the world around us? Part of the cure or part of the disease (yes, that was a Coldplay reference)?

Next up, Etsy’s EIC Alison Feldmann and Outbrain GM Tom Foran examine the convergence of content and commerce with a panel called “Content Changes Everything: Even The Way We Shop,” a theme we started exploring last year at our Content Conversations meetup. Who better than Etsy to look at this important trend?

Last but not least, “Will Sponsored Content Go the Way of the Banner Ad?” takes one of the industry’s most buzzed-about topics and ponders a future where some version of the “blindness” that afflicted banner ads, or worse, a gradual mistrust of such media, could develop in the burgeoning content marketing ecosystem. An all-star cast of Buzzfeed, Tumblr, Pepsi, and yours truly weigh in.
