Does where you host video content affect audience trust?

YouTube Outperforms Brand-Owned Domains in Video Engagement

Chart: CTR by Host Source

As a content discovery platform, we see a lot of content daily. This year, we’ve seen video content playing a huge role in the rise of content marketing because key buyers are becoming more influenced by this medium.

But, when you create your awesome branded video, where should it live?

According to the data, videos hosted on YouTube generate a 46% higher click-through rate (CTR) than videos hosted on owned domains. How much of a difference does it make? When a brand name is included in the source name of YouTube hosted videos (e.g., “Brand X on Youtube”), their CTR was 22% higher than on brand domain hosted videos. The best results of all were those that simply said, “Source: YouTube.”

Once you’ve got your engaging branded video in hand, remember that source name carries a lot of weight. YouTube, a channel where audiences go to discover and consume massive amounts of content, may be the best option for you.
