It’s getting ‘sweaty’ in our London office as 12 members of the EU team surrender themselves to intensive training in preparation for the Royal Parks Half Marathon taking place on Sunday the 6th of October in London. The team’s heady goal is to raise £4,000 to support the charity Shelter, which fights against homelessness in the UK. And of course…cross the finish line.
The team will join 16,000 runners covering 13 miles through some of the city’s most beautiful parkland…deep breath. After hours of tiring, post-office training, the team is just about ready to dash for the finish line. Gemma, one of our Outbrain ‘champs’, commented: “The road has been long, our legs are tired, our arms are weak, our bones brittle… but hey we are almost there!”
And if running never-ending miles was not enough… our runners have also been baking and cooking to help achieve our fundraising goal. Cupcakes, Swedish Sinnamon Rolls and Pastrami sandwiches were some of the most popular dishes that helped to support our cause and Shelter.
Shelter helps over a million people a year struggling with bad housing or homelessness. The charity also campaigns to prevent housing problems for some of the UK’s most vulnerable families.
