As part of Internet Week’s Walk About initiative, Outbrain agreed to open its doors to visitors. In addition to providing more than 30 attendees with food and drinks, we offered them a glimpse into what we do and how we do it. Our CEO, Yaron Galai, gave a brief presentation on our capabilities and he answered questions varying from how we spend our funding to how he invented our company’s name.
Perhaps my favorite moment of the event occurred when one visitor, Jeff Stewart of The Creative Group, asked Yaron why we don’t charge for our internal link recommendations. Stewart seemed stunned that we didn’t make an attempt to use internal links to generate revenue. Yaron shrugged and said, “There are companies that are value extractors and companies that are value adders. If we add value for our clients, over time we will be able to add revenue.”
That message is at the core of our beliefs and it’s why we’ve been as successful as we have been. It was wonderful to be able to share that vision with a few new friends.
